Training and background

After completing BSc (Hons) physiotherapy in India, I relocated to the UK for higher studies where I enrolled in a masters program (MSc-Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy) at Sheffield Hallam University. It was during my MSc, I developed keen interest in research motivating me to pursue a research degree (MPhil) at Keele University. My research focused on ‘developing a non-invasive method for in vivo monitoring of forearm flexor tendon excursions during rehabilitation following surgical tendon repair’, which I used in my clinical practice later.

Whilst pursuing MPhil, I simultaneously gained experience working in both NHS and private healthcare sectors in London. Following this, I moved to Scotland and joined BMI Kings Park Hospital (Stirling) as a Musculoskeletal physiotherapist, providing care for both inpatients and outpatients.

I joined Physis in 2019 and while working as a specialist MSK physiotherapist, I developed a strong interest in women’s health physiotherapy. After dedicated research work, courses and trainings, I am now a certified Menopause & Mummy MOT practitioner. I am also trained in therapeutic yoga, pilates (matwork, ante-post natal) and incorporate these as appropriate into my clinical practice. Being a mother of two lovely boys born through traumatic c-section deliveries, my goal now is to educate and empower women to build a strong pelvic floor much like their minds!

For South Asian patients- I can communicate effectively in both ‘Hindi’ and ‘Nepali’ languages!

What our patients say about Rani

After attending months of NHS physio I tried Physis and got immediate results. Rani is great. She worked out an exercise regime which helped me regain strength in my leg. I’ve also regained flexibility I haven’t had in years. Many thanks Rani! (Alan Bingham)

I was referred to Physis when I had extreme nerve pain in my lumbar. Unbeknownst to me, I was also pregnant. My therapist was Rani Sharma, and she was amazing! Her advice and exercises were so helpful, managing my pain became easier very quickly and she worked with my pregnancy needs extremely well. Thanks for being so communicative and great to work with Rani! Would recommend to anyone. (Judith Liddle)

I was referred to Physis through Rehab at Work with a neck problem, Rani was quick to diagnose a compressed nerve and set me remedial exercises to help me recover. After a 5 week internal programme, I am now almost back to normal, still a bit stiff but thanks to Physis and in particular, Rani, what a brilliant service provided. Thanks again, (Richard Gray)

Very good therapist… professional, supportive and keen to give advice in all aspects. Many thanks to Rani and all her hard work. Highly recommended. (Aleks English)
