My career began in the National Health Service in 2011, where I worked in a variety of clinical areas. From here I then became an Oncology Specialist Physiotherapist at Velindre Cancer Centre with a specialist interest in the recovery following surgery for Breast Cancer and working with patients to optimise function, movement and improve scar tissue. Within this specialist centre I also gained experience in assessing and treating pelvic dysfunction and urinary incontinence as a consequence of oncology treatment for gynaecological cancers and prostate cancers.
Alongside my NHS experience, I have worked in a private hospital where I developed a menopause service for patients, including acupuncture for hot flushes. I gained specialist skills in post gynaecology surgery, prolapse management and pre/post natal care. My experiences here sparked my passion for improving the management of patients with chronic pelvic pain and bladder pain syndrome.
I then moved to an Advanced Physiotherapy role within the Urology specialism in the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh where I continue to work closely with the Urologists in treating both men and women experiencing continence issues, bladder dysfunction, bladder pain syndrome, and the management of recurrent urine infections. This role also involves seeing any men who are undergoing surgery for Prostate Cancer, helping to optimise continence and erectile dysfunction as a result of the surgery.
My goal is to work closely with you to find out what symptoms you are experiencing. Together we can come up with an action plan and treatment to optimise these symptoms and improve your quality of life.
