Video Analysis

In Clinic Video & Picture Analysis

How you move compared to how you think you move, may not always be the same thing! Faulty movement patterns are commonly associated with musculoskeletal injury and ongoing pain. Most smart phones have good quality Video cameras now, and are easy to use, but you need yo know what you are looking at. Our therapists can use different applications within the clinic to analyse a person’s movement or position, which together with a detailed examination can give really valuable inside to the cause of your problem. It also acts as a baseline measure to establish any improvements seen.  If you understand your problem, and what you need to do to fix it, achieving your goals becomes much easier.

We will commonly either email the pictures to you, or use your camera, so that you have instant access to recall what it is that you need to do to get yourself better.

Getting to see what we see can make a huge difference to your perception of your problem, and make you accept that you might have a bit of hard work in store to eliminate the pain.

We can use video to analyse your running, bike position, golf swing or simple movements like going up and down the stairs if the movement pattern is the major factor that is driving your pain. Using software like Dartfish, we can slow this movement right down to really identify the points in time that are causing the problem. This, together with other technology such as the vimove can give a comprehensive picture of the stresses that you are placing on your body.

To find out more on the technology available at physis, give us a phone on 0131 478 4646 or book an appointment online
